Huang Shuqin, the daughter of famous director and drama master Huang Zuolin and Danny. Born in Tianjin on September 9, 1939, he moved to Shanghai with his parents the following year.
In 1959, Huang Shuqin was admitted to the directing department of the Beijing Film Academy, and in 1964, he worked in the Shanghai Film Studio. Following Xie Jin, Ren "Ah! The Cradle" and "The Legend of Tianyun Mountain" are the assistant directors.

In 1998, Huang Shuqin congratulated Xie Jin on his 50th year of filming.

Huang Shuqin was a director of the China Film Association and vice-chairman of the Shanghai Film Association. On March 27, 2016, he won the Outstanding Contribution Award from the China Film Directors Association.
The 2017 Huang Shuqin Artistic Achievement Exhibition was held in Shanghai. Zhang Jianya, chairman of the Shanghai Film Association, said at the symposium, "Huang Shuqin is really a very talented director, it's a pity for her.
