2022 Venice Biennale, Fashion and Art Retranslate "Fables" of the Last Century

At this Venice Biennale, fashion and art have a more direct dialogue. Dior (Dior), Louis Vuitton (Louis Vuitton), Bottega Veneta (Butterfly Home), Prada (Prada) and Burberry (Burberry) all support the exhibition in various ways, and work together with art to create an imagination and reflection The journey leads us to reflect on our own condition in the post-human era.
As an important contemporary art event, the 59th Venice Biennale is open to the public from April 23 to November 27, 2022. The exhibition was postponed for a year due to the epidemic.
This year's Venice Biennale theme exhibition "The Milk of Dreams" comes from the children's book of the same name by the Mexican surrealist artist Leonora Carrington (Leonora Carrington), which describes a fantasy world: Life is constantly reconstructed through the prism of imagination, where anyone can be transformed into another person, or even an object. Chief curator Cecilia Alemani describes it as an "allegory" of the last century. The Biennale has three themed areas: "The Body and Its Deformation"; "The Relationship between the Individual and Technology"; "The Connection Between the Body and the Earth". Art creates a journey of imagination and contemplation, leading us to reflect The state of being in the post-human age.
Cecilia Alemani is the fifth female chief curator in the exhibition's history and the first Italian woman to curate the biennale. It is reported that this year a total of 213 artists from 58 countries participated in the exhibition, of which more than 90% of the participating artists were women, setting a record for the largest number of female artists. Many of them are closely related to fashion brands. For example, Tomaso Binga, an Italian woman who participated in this exhibition, participated in the design of the Dior fashion show. On the opening day of the 23rd, Dior hosted a dinner to support the restoration of the Museum of the Ca' D'Oro by the Venetian Heritage Foundation. The Venetian Heritage Foundation is an international non-profit organization whose President and Chairman Peter Marino has been involved in the design of several Dior boutiques, including the brand's flagship store on Avenue Montaigne in Paris. Dior also commissioned 82-year-old Venetian video artist Fabrizio Plessi to reinterpret the brand's iconic Lady Dior bag. This Lady Dior bag will be on display at the brand's flagship store in Venice.
Also a supporter of the Venetian Heritage Foundation, Louis Vuitton will also support the Domus d'Or museum, providing funding for the restoration of the historic late-Gothic palace.
In addition to preserving historic buildings, Louis Vuitton has a passion for contemporary art. This year, the Fondation Louis Vuitton participated in the official parallel project curated by Ceilia Alemani for the Venice Biennale. The Louis Vuitton Espace cultural and art space exhibited the three-dimensional work "Apollo, Apollo" created by German female artist Katharine Grosse for this Biennale. This large-scale installation is made of metal mesh cloth, and the artist's own hands are used as molds. Apollo, Apollo

The draped forms and saturated hues of Apollo, Apollo recall famous Venetian crafts such as Fortuny weaving and terrazzo mosaic tiles, while the fluidity of the material echoes the criss-crossing waterways and sparkling waves of the city . In the dark and quiet exhibition space, "Apollo, Apollo" opens up a porch leading to a dream world, making visitors question the reality and illusion in their own eyes. During the first week of the Biennale, Louis Vuitton also renovated eight traditional newsstands, adding colour and culture to the streets of Venice. These local kiosks are turned into limited-time bookstores, featuring Louis Vuitton travel book series City Guide, Fashion Eye, Travels and more.
This year is the second year in a row that Bottega Veneta has been an official partner of the Venice Biennale di Danza. The dance performance project of 'Dancing Studies' is carried out by Bottega Veneta in collaboration with the Pinault Collection. Inspired by "Bruce Norman: A Study of the Balance of Opposites", the work is presented by Greek dancer and choreographer Lenio Kaklea, with costumes designed by Matthieu Blazy, creative director of Bottega Veneta. Bottega Veneta's Venice store releases a capsule collection inspired by Olivetti's typewriter. The typewriter was photographed in the Olivetti showroom by renowned interior photographer Francois Halard and designed by architect Carlo Scarpa. The showroom showcases not only the talent of Scarpa, but also the beauty of the typewriter itself, with 15 limited-edition bags paying homage to this multidimensional design philosophy. The British Council presents artist Sonia Boyce OBE RA's large-scale solo exhibition "Feeling the Way" at the Venice Art Fair. Feeling Her Way immerses visitors in the improvisations of five black female musicians. Boyce brings together artists to improvise, collaborate and perform with sound. The rooms of the pavilion are surrounded by sound, sometimes in harmony and sometimes in conflict, conveying different feelings of freedom, strength and vulnerability.
Today, fashion brands are increasingly interested in relevant topics that affect human life, even if they are difficult to understand. For a cultural institution whose identity is rooted in the visual arts, dealing with science is certainly an intellectual challenge. How does a luxury brand develop an exhibition of ideas and knowledge? How do you find a way to articulate scientific rigor in a way that everyone can understand? The Human Brain: Everything Begins with Thought Exhibition

The Prada Foundation presents the exhibition "The Human Brain: Everything Begins with Thought" during the Venice Biennale. The exhibition occupies three floors of the showroom building. At the heart of the second floor, 32 combined screens play wonderful lectures by 36 neuroscientists, psychologists, neurolinguists and philosophers from five continents. They study neuroscience experiments, and their philosophical and ethical dimensions.
Like The Brain, The Conversation Machine is a self-organizing system that responds automatically, constantly constructing and assimilating its own order and disorder. Through snippets excerpted from more than 140 hours of interviews, participants appear to be listening and responding to each other's statements; they are constantly entering and exiting; items relevant to their work are constantly presented; Humans sit in chairs, falling into continual, silent silence; like the human brain, conversations evolve according to a logic of prediction and surprise. According to Giancarlo Comi, chair of the Scientific Committee on the Human Brain, “It allows us to participate in social life in a more profound way, respecting and appreciating the diversity between people and ideas.”
