Zhang Shichao + Zhejiang Foreign Choir, this concert sings the beauty of Chinese and foreign chorus

After listening to the "Divine Comedy" "Zhang Shichao, where did you put the keys to my house", you must be familiar with "Internet celebrity" Zhang Shichao.
From chorus to folk music, chamber music, orchestral music, and film music, the young composer with a professional background has a wide range of creations and various styles, of which chorus works are the most well-known to the public.
He has recently written a new chorus work "Jiangnu Temple", which is based on the poems written by Nalan Xingde, a lyricist in the Qing Dynasty.
On the evening of July 9 at the Hangzhou Grand Theater, conductor Zhou Juanjuan conducted the Zhejiang Foreign Studies University's TheNew Choir, and premiered "Jiang Nu Temple" in the "Sound, Rhyme, Song and Wind" chorus concert. A cool breeze was sent. The New Choir was established in 2016. It has participated in many important domestic galas and won many awards in chorus competitions. In order to reflect the school-running feature of Zhejiang University of Foreign Languages "integrating Chinese and foreign", the troupe has held special concerts of "Sound, Rhythm, Song and Wind" for many years, and this summer has been held for the fifth season.
Stretching for thousands of miles and spanning thousands of years, the fifth season of "Sound, Rhythm, Song and Wind" staged 13 chorus pieces of different types and a mixed chorus set, half of which were Chinese and foreign works, which were performed alternately.
Among them, Chinese works such as "Jiang Nv Temple", "Moon in the Mountain", "A City", "Eight Views of Xiaoxiang", "A Hundred Years Watch", "Looking Forward to the Distance" and "Shangri-La's Call" are all made by Zhang Shichao.
When the singing sounded, the audience immediately became quiet and walked into the beautiful scenery created by "Moon in the Mountains". This work is based on "In the Mountains" written by Xu Zhimo to his former lover Lin Huiyin. The New Choir's grasp of complex and subtle emotions is exquisite, not too revealing, but not too hidden.
In addition, the lyrics of "A City" are also taken from the famous literary work, Lao She's "Some Impressions", using high-stacked chords as the background of the harmony, and the piano is faintly interspersed, which outlines a picturesque image of a middle-aged and ancient city; The chorus suite "Eight Views of Xiaoxiang" adopts the eight songs of "Shouyang Song: Eight Views of Xiaoxiang" created by the Yuan Dynasty dramatist Ma Zhiyuan, such as eight landscape paintings full of poetic and picturesque, expressing the yearning for landscape and freedom...
In the Chinese works sung by TheNew Choir, you can hear the poetry, romance, and fireworks that are unique to Chinese literati, as well as the simple and natural "Chinese style" aesthetics pursued by Zhang Shichao. And in the western works they sing in English, French, Italian, Hungarian, Spanish, Arabic and other languages, you can hear colorful colors and diverse and international music styles.
A pastoral song "It Has Returned, Joyfully Returning to Heaven and Earth" brought people to Italy in the 16th century; "Song of the Rose", "Song of Dusk" and "Song of Tenderness" were sung one after another, showing the languages of France, Hungary and the United States Features; "For the Beauty of the World", "When He Begins to Dance" and "Singing Day and Night" are sung in English, Arabic and Spanish respectively, showing the chorus art of different languages and cultures. "When He Begins to Dance" also specially invites A Syrian teacher came to play Arabic drums, which was rich in exotic flavors, and instantly ignited the scene.
Many experts from the chorus field came to the performance, and the next day, the experts attended the seminar again. In their opinion, TheNew Choir can control various styles of works and express emotions freely. It is already a mature chorus. Experts also spoke highly of Zhang Shichao's original works, believing that his music creation pursues the heart and is not conventional.
