Introducing the concert:
Following his debut at the Shanghai Summer Music Festival last year, the young "post-00" conductor, the winner of two international conducting competitions in Armenia Khachaturian and OnlyStage, Jin Yukuang, led his Neoclassical Chamber Orchestra to present us once again. A unique concert. This up-and-coming chamber band, centered on neoclassical and minimalist-inspired works, will present three works rarely performed on the domestic stage. Schnittke's "Antiquise Suite" was originally composed for violin and piano, and was arranged by the conductor himself for the chamber band. Wind and form. Respighi's early composition "Suites for Flute and Strings" combines a variety of European folk music styles. The Vivaldi "Four Seasons" Violin Concerto "re-created" by Max Richter as the finale, on the basis of retaining the original structure and texture, introduces the sound effects of modern harmony and electronic music, making the classic masterpiece glow The dynamism of a new age. Li Mengneng: "The Sun·Psalm" (NCPA Young Composer Program Work) (World Premiere)
Mozart: Horn Concerto No. 4 in E flat major
Mozart: Symphony No. 41 in C major, K. 551 "Jupiter"
Introducing the concert:
This concert of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra is helmed by Jing Huan, the permanent conductor of the orchestra. Together with Zeng Yun, a young horn player who has achieved good results in many international competitions, he brings a work of the NCPA Young Composer Program - Li Mengneng's "Sunshine" · Psalm, and Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 4 in E flat major and Symphony No. 41 in C major.
Composer and poet Li Mengneng's "Sun·Psalm" is inspired by the long Chinese poem "The Sun", and it is also the third piece of the composer's seven orchestral composition plan for the poet Haizi's "Sun·Seven Books". Through the continuation and interweaving of thick and thin lines, as well as the changes of shades and shades during dyeing, the works strive to blend simple melody into relatively complex elements of music.
Mozart's "Fourth Horn Concerto" bears witness to his deep friendship with horn player Ledy Kip, who met Mozart when he was 7 years old and remained in contact until Mozart's death. In the second half of the 18th century, the horn was a musical instrument with no keys, and the pitch was controlled by the player's bare hands, making it extremely difficult to play a semitone. The first movement of this concerto contains a large number of semitones and is extremely difficult to play. This is Mozart's intention to express Leedekip's skills, and it is also a testimony to the composer's love and admiration for this performer.
Symphony No. 41 is the last symphony composed by Mozart. This work was dubbed the Roman god "Jupiter" for its complexity, splendor and grand preparation, and permanently established Mozart's status as the master of classical music. In the song, Mozart showed his composing talent to the fullest, and his extremely rich emotional expression had a profound impact on composers such as Haydn and Beethoven. In the fourth movement, Mozart created a breathtaking fugue as the theme, which seemed to pay homage to the predecessors of the Baroque composers, but also seemed to herald the dramatic expressiveness of the fugue in the Romantic period. Carol Szymanowski: "The Fountain of Arethusa", from Myth, Opus 30 No. 1
Maurice Ravel: Zagan
Claude Debussy: "Moonlight"
Johannes Brahms: Violin Sonata No. 3 in D minor, Op. 108
Introducing the concert:
Li Weigang, an old friend of the Shanghai audience and the first violin of the Shanghai Quartet, returned to the stage of the Summer Music Festival. Although he was unable to meet the audience in person due to the epidemic, Li Weigang still carefully brought you a rich and varied concert, covering classical, romantic, Works of different eras such as modern, as well as different styles such as lyrical and dazzling, are like a picture scroll recording the development of violin music. The audience will first start from Italy at the beginning of the eighteenth century, through the works of Vivaldi to appreciate the new melody-dominant style of the violin solo sonata when it was just born. In Mozart's Violin Sonata in B flat major, not only the purity, elegance, dynamism and fluidity that Mozart has always had in his music, but also the composer's exploration of new emotional expressions when he first moved to Vienna. Brahms's third violin sonata was written in the composer's later years. The grand structure of the four movements and the integral piano and violin parts reflect that the violin sonata's genre has reached the most developed state. The music is in a melancholy and profound overall. Under the atmosphere, it is difficult to conceal the vigorous passion, which is a concrete portrayal of the composer's mood in his later years. Polish composer Szymanowski's "Myth" takes Greek mythology as the theme and is written in the style of French impressionism. The flexible use of unconventional violin playing methods in the piece is impressive; the performance is also in impressionist style. The track also includes Debussy's "Moonlight". The indispensable dazzling work in the violin solo concert - Ravel's "Zigang", combined with superb performance skills and fiery folk dance style, pushed the concert to a climax and ignited the passion of summer. Ligeti: Six Pieces for Woodwind Quintet
Beethoven: String Quartet No. 6 in B flat major, Op. 18 No. 6
Pavel Haas: String Quartet No. 2 "Monkey Mountain", Op. 7
Introducing the concert:
The Principal Woodwind Quintet of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra consists of five instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon. It is the most common combination of wind instruments in chamber music. These five instruments have different ranges, timbres and playing techniques, not only for composers They provide a wealth of creative possibilities, but also challenge their writing skills. The creation of the woodwind quintet originated in France at the beginning of the nineteenth century, and the composer Tafanel in the second half of the nineteenth century inherited this tradition in French music. As a flutist, he not only taught at the Paris Conservatory In the process of cultivating many students, he also actively participated in the movement to revive early music. His woodwind quintet composed in 1876 is a masterpiece of rigorous form and reflects the spirit of classical music, and it is also a woodwind quintet of this style. One of the most frequently performed on stage. Compared with this, the famous avant-garde composer Ligeti's six woodwind quintet pieces are completely different: although these pieces were composed in 1953, when he first debuted in 1953, they did not have a strong experimental spirit. , but Ligeti's use of strong dissonances, a preference for staccato, and a deliberate emphasis on sparse textures are refreshing.
In the second half of the performance, the Shanghai Women's Quartet will use classic music to show the opportunities and challenges of contemporary women's consciousness and achievements. The first is the last and most mature string quartet in B-flat major of Beethoven's early string quartets, and the music is full of the vigorous and enterprising spirit of the young Beethoven. The other string quartet is from Pavel Haas, a Jewish-Czech composer who is not very familiar to Chinese audiences. Haas studied from Janacek when he was young until he was murdered in a Nazi concentration camp in 1944. He has only published more than ten works, but almost all of them are creative and novel. His Second String Quartet, composed in 1925, is a travelogue-style work, the music in the form of a landscape painting accurately reproduces the feelings of the composer on a summer vacation in the mountains of southern Czech Republic, the music is not only citing folk music melodies and modes In addition to the elements of , it also unexpectedly added jazz drums to the final movement, which caused a stir when it premiered. Astor Piazzolla: "Angel Suite"
Gabriel Frey: "Pavan's Dance"
Introducing the concert:
Combinations composed entirely of the same instrument are a relatively new form of performance in Western music, and perhaps the most successful group is composed entirely of cellos. The first such group was the "Twelve Cellos of the Berlin Philharmonic" formed in 1972 by the players of the Berlin Philharmonic. They have toured around the world to perform commissioned works by many famous contemporary composers, and recorded many times award. The "Twelve Cellos" of the China Philharmonic Orchestra is a brand-new attempt inspired by them. In this Shanghai Summer Music Festival, these cellists will bring the audience a Latin American-themed concert. Great concert. The first "Bach Style of Brazil" suite by Brazilian composer Vera Robles was composed for Spanish cello master Casals. The music incorporates elements of Brazilian folk songs and dances into European polyphonic structure. Because the composer himself is also good at Playing the cello, the music reflects his deep understanding of the musical possibilities of this instrument. Argentine composer Piazzolla's music incorporates classical and jazz techniques, especially many forms of baroque music, into the otherwise unrefined tango, elevating it to the realm of serious music. The concert will also stage the new work "La Dance" by the Mexican contemporary composer Jose Elizondo, who graduated from Harvard University. This piece is divided into three movements. A tribute to predecessors Vera-Robles and Piazzolla, and a Mexican-style finale concludes the whole piece. Van Zweden and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra

Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Opus 43
Antonin Dvorak
Symphony No. 7 in D minor, Op. 70
Introducing the concert:
This summer music festival will be supported by three international famous ensembles, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Master conductor Van Zweden conducts the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, performing two classic masterpieces - Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Dvorak's Symphony No. 7 in D minor.
The famous theme of "Paganini Rhapsody on a Theme" is taken from the last of Paganini's twenty-four violin solo caprices. Paganini's works are widely known as solo violin works for their diabolical technical difficulty and extraordinary musicality. It has inspired countless composers since the 19th century, from Schumann, Liszt, and Brahms to Lutoslawski and Rochberg. Composers must have felt that this theme was an ideal basis for composing variations: it had a simple harmonic progression, a beautiful melodic outline, a clear and regular phrase structure, and a characteristic rhythm. Rachmaninoff wrote 24 variations for his Rhapsody, using a fairly traditional theme and variation structure, but there are also some special treatments, such as placing the first variation before the presentation of the theme, a practice of Bedo Finn has already used it in the finale of the Symphony of Heroes. He also cites his favorite theme in the song: the Medieval chant, "The Day of Wrath," which represents the Last Judgment in Requiem Mass. "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" is roughly divided into four major parts, somewhat similar to a symphony: the first ten variations are all fast rhythms, after the piano splendor of the eleventh variation, the next four variations are Three beats, while the sixteenth-eighteenth variations are slow, culminating in a famous melody composed of a reflection of a Paganini theme in the eighteenth variation. The music returns to a fast tempo for the remaining variations. In the concert, Chinese-American pianist Yu Peilin will join hands with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra to perform this masterpiece. Zhang Jiemin, He Hui and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra

Introducing the concert:
The second concert brought by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra at the main venue of the Shanghai Summer Music Festival this year, led by resident conductor Zhang Jiemin, joined hands with the famous soprano He Hui to perform Harlequin, Country Knight, Tang Hauser, Tristan and Isolde and many other opera excerpts.
With his Germanic national spirit and innovations in theatrical art, Wagner made his achievements in the history of German opera to an unprecedented height, and at the same time made German opera leap up, worthy of keeping pace with Italy and France. Wagner has his own unique understanding and expression of opera. In the processing of vocal music, he used a melody development method that was completely different from the Italian method, but adopted the "endless melody", which made the vocals and instrumental music blend together, and the singer became a part of the band, so it was different from the Italian composer. The emphasis on vocal music and the tradition of relying on the human voice to drive the development of drama is fully reflected in Tristan and Isolde. In addition, Wagner's vocal music is more to express the meaning of words, it is prose, there is no traditional aria and recitative points. As for the themes of opera, he prefers myths and legends, but he does not want to be "entertainment", but with German-style rigor and ambition, he tries to give it a deeper philosophical idea.
Just when Wagner's operas impacted the entire Italian music creation, Italy, the traditional important town of opera, developed realistic operas under the influence of French naturalism and local realistic literary trends, and its representatives include Ponchielli and Leon. Cavallo, Mascani, etc. In a sense, realist opera is a kind of "revolt" against Wagner's opera. It opposes the opera's use of illusory medieval themes, endlessly expanding space, and the heavy and complicated music. It advocates excavating themes from real life, especially the characters at the bottom of the society, and pursues drama in plot and conciseness in expression. Introducing the concert:
The Little Prince is a famous children's literature short story written in 1942 by the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The story tells that the plane piloted by the pilot had a malfunction, made a forced landing in the Sahara desert, and happened to meet the little prince from the alien. Through the communication with the little prince during the eight days of living together, the pilot learned about the adventures of the little prince-he visited the planet of the king, the vain man, the drunkard, the merchant, the lamplighter and the geographer respectively in space, and came to After the earth, he encountered snakes, roses, foxes, switchmen, traders and so on. From the perspective of the little prince, the author sees through the emptiness, numbness, ignorance and dogma of the adult world, writes the loneliness and loneliness of adults in simple and innocent words, and criticizes the wrong values. The simple and sincere words of "The Little Prince" seem simple, but they are full of rich philosophy, reminding busy adults to maintain a childlike innocence, in order to truly discover that beautiful things are always around.
This concert carefully selected a number of musical pieces mainly composed by French Impressionist composers Debussy, Ravel and others. Under the arrangement of composer Wang Meng, the whole story was strung together. These works have a unique musical vocabulary, the style advocates softness and restraint, rejects excessive passion, and pursues a sense of delicacy. The music is full of love for life and longing for beauty. Implicit hints are more than enthusiastic and straightforward expressions, which is in line with the unrealistic concept of "The Little Prince". By blending emotions into the scene and scenes, the concert creates a poetic atmosphere for the audience and readers in the form of sound and picture, enhances the lyricism of the novel, listens to the storytelling of "Sister Swallow" in the music, and listens to the fairy tale melody in the recitation , the double enjoyment of the ears is not to be missed! Symphonic Poem "A Heroic Life", Opus 40
Introducing the concert:
This summer music festival will be supported by three international famous ensembles, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The Royal Philharmonic's performance was recorded live at the Royal Festival Hall in the Southbank Centre in June 2019 and received four stars from The Times.
In March 1899, Richard Strauss personally conducted the premiere of the symphonic poem "A Heroic Life" in Frankfurt. In his letter to his friend Marcus Stern, he talked about the creation of "A Heroic Life" and Beethoven's "A Heroic Life". Symphony of the Heroes, and uses the same E-flat major and horn. In order to give the audience a better understanding of the work, he asked the poet Koenig to write six stanzas for the six parts of the piece according to his instructions and instructions. From his later conversations with Romain Rolland it is known what the heroic figure in this work refers to: "Why don't I write a symphony about myself? I can't find the reason. But I am like Napoleon and Alexander the Great. , are very interested in themselves.” This symphonic poem, which can be regarded as the composer's autobiography, takes the hero as the main line, telling the story of the hero's ups and downs in his life and the process of fighting against adversity. Composers run the leading motives throughout the piece, allowing the music to develop and create a forward momentum. The whole symphonic poem can be divided into six parts: 1. Hero; 2. Hero's enemy; 3. Hero's love; 4. Hero's battlefield; 5. Hero's peaceful performance; 6. Hero's seclusion. The subtitle is clearly marked on the score, just like the movement of a symphony. Structurally, it adopts the classic sonata form - a combination of Wagnerian passion and Brahmsian solemnity. The hero theme is passionate, masculine. The whole orchestra was involved, and the scale and orchestration were much larger than usual. 2022 Shanghai Summer Music Festival Closing Concert

Introducing the concert:
The symphonic poem "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" was advocated by Yu Long, Chairman of the Symphony Orchestra Alliance of the China Music Association, and proposed during the "Sixth China Symphony Orchestra Art Management Forum" in 2021, calling on the members of the alliance to jointly commission the creation. Since then, it was jointly commissioned by 23 symphony orchestras across the country and completed in one year by the famous composer Zhao Lin. As the closing concert of the 2022 Shanghai Summer Music Festival, Sun Yifan will conduct the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and bring the world premiere of the work.
The symphonic poem "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" is inspired by the painting "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" by Wang Ximeng in the Northern Song Dynasty, which is the only work handed down by Wang Ximeng. This picture depicts the splendid rivers and mountains of the motherland. On the picture, the peaks and ridges are undulating and rolling, the rivers and waves are vast, the weather is myriad, and it is magnificent and magnificent. The painter roughly divides the scene into six parts, each of which takes the mountain as the main object of expression. Each part is connected by a long bridge or communicated by flowing water, so that each section of the landscape is relatively independent, but also interrelated, and skillfully connected into one. , to achieve the artistic effect of different scenes.
Corresponding to the six parts of the original painting, composer Zhao Lin's symphonic poem "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" is also divided into six movements, each of which has a title from a famous Chinese classic literature. The title of the first movement "Flying Clouds, Chutian Thousand Miles" comes from Xin Qiji's "Congratulations to the Bridegroom, Yizhong Garden Pavilion" and "Shuilong Yin-Dengjiankang Appreciating the Heart Pavilion" in the Song Dynasty; Send Ziyou", the subtitles are from Su Shi's "Whispering Spring Ci" and "The Drunkard Cao Langran" respectively; the title of the third movement comes from the painting "Pine Wind in Ten Thousand Valleys" by Juran of the Five Dynasties, and the subtitle also comes from Su Shi's "The Drunkard Cao" ·Lang Ran"; the title of the fourth movement comes from Fan Chengda's "The Red River" in the Song Dynasty, and the subtitle comes from the Song Dynasty Xin Qiji's "Shui Tiao Song Head and Ma Shudu Touring the Moon Wave Tower"; the title of the fifth movement and the lyrics of the sixth movement are from Meng Haoran's "Pengli Lake" of the Tang Dynasty Looking at Lushan Mountain".
Composer says:
My creation of this "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" was inspired by Wang Ximeng's painting "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" in the Northern Song Dynasty, as well as Chinese classical culture, and I hope to inject the interweaving of classical and modern into this orchestral work. This work consists of a prelude and six movements in total, each of which adopts a "bixing" technique similar to the "Book of Songs", first writing things, and then from things to people.
The title of the first movement is "Flying Clouds, Chutian Thousands of Miles", this is a panoramic and pure orchestral movement, with a grand perspective as the theme of the whole work, the theme materials used in this movement are in the back It will appear repeatedly in all movements, but in different forms of expression and in combination with instruments.
The title of the second movement is "Shuiyun Rongyang", and the solo instrument is Sheng, which is also the first movement with national instrumental music. In this movement, I first write about water and clouds, and then write about people's inner feelings, expressing the relationship between people and nature.
The third movement "Moon Valley Pine Wind" is a concerto between the pipa and the orchestra. At the same time, there is a subtitle "Langran. Qingyuan. Who plays. Ringing the empty mountain", this is a relatively quiet movement, I first try to create a The feeling of the valley under the moon, the sound of birdsong echoing in the valley, the sound of the wind blowing pine needles, etc. After that, the music suddenly entered the allegro, that is, the feeling of "the tree wants to be quiet but the wind does not stop".
The fourth movement is the erhu and the band, which I call "Thousand Stacks of Mighty", and the subtitle is Xin Qiji's verse "According to me, full of ice and snow, the mighty rivers flow". This movement is more focused on writing people, expressing people's love and broad-mindedness in the face of the mighty mountains and rivers.
The fifth movement is a more intense piano and orchestra movement, describing the mountains with overlapping peaks, the mountain situation of "tens of thousands of horses circling, the mountains to the east", and how people feel when facing the mountains. The title's name is "Zhengrong Shukong", from Meng Haoran's "Lake Pengli Looking at Mount Lu", this poem is also the lyrics of the soprano solo in the last movement.
The sixth movement is titled "Wanshan into the Sea", composed for soprano solo, bamboo flute solo and orchestra. The lyrics are Meng Haoran's "Looking at Mount Lu from Pengli Lake". Why use this poem? When I was creating this work, I read Mr. Yu Hui's "A Hundred Questions and Thousands of Miles", which is his interpretation of Wang Ximeng's "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains", which mentioned that he believed that this painting had a tangible effect when it was created. After a lot of research, he believes that the main reference object should be Mount Lu, or in other words, there is a shadow of Mount Lu in the painting. So I chose Meng Haoran's poem about Mount Lu, which consists of five characters and eighteen lines. This poem also reflects the Chinese philosophy of life, from the description of the whole environment, and finally to the mentality of people. In this movement, the vocals, the national musical instruments and the sound of the symphony orchestra complement each other, bringing the whole work to an end.

The "Death and the Maiden", which is included in the benchmark of chamber music, is a quartet composed by Schubert, the representative of early romantic music and the Austrian composer between 1824 and 1826. This work is named after Schubert's art song of the same name (D 531) composed for soprano and piano in early 1817. The second movement of the quartet draws on art songs in melody and color, and also reveals Schubert's life in life. Continued pain and fear.
