Dialogue with Feng Bing, the actor of "Old Mo" in "Hurricane": I hope to play a positive role next time

The audience really saw the actor Feng Bing from "Hurricane". In the play, he plays Chen Jinmo (Old Mo), a cold-blooded "lollipop killer" who is not very ruthless and a father who loves his daughter. One of his "killing eyes" made the audience enter the play in almost a second.

Feng Bing was born in Zibo, Shandong, graduated from Beijing Film Academy, and is a retired soldier with 16 years of military experience. His military experience has created his unique tough-guy qualities. Chen Jinmo is taciturn, lonely, forbearing, and has a flawed personality, which is very different from Feng Bing's personality in real life. But Feng Bing said that there is something similar in them, that is, they are very persistent, and they will go all out to do one thing if they believe in it.

Before Lao Mo appeared on the stage, perhaps some audiences who prefer criminal investigation dramas knew this actor who played the main villain. For example, the murderer Cao Dong in "The Illustrated Book of Hunting Crimes", the murderer Cao Dong who didn't speak many words, the drug dealer Kun Meng who was killed by his accomplices in "Special Warfare Glory", the fierce kidnapper Na Hai in "Double Detective", etc. For a longer time, Feng Bing was an actor who was recognized as capable of acting but not well-known.

Two years ago, Feng Bing received the script of "Hurricane". He did a lot of homework, and after shaping Lao Mo in a simple and simple way of acting, he was still uneasy. Gold cups and silver cups are not as good as the reputation of ordinary people. Now, seeing the audience's recognition of Lao Mo, Feng Bing is completely relieved. He said, "As long as the audience likes this character, Feng Bing is not important, Feng Bing just completed a job."

The following is the conversation between the reporter and the actor Feng Bing:

Reporter: After "Hurricane" became popular, everyone said that actor Feng Bing became the blockbuster dark horse in the play. So, what is your current state of mind? What's new about work?

Feng Bing: I am quite calm now, because it was filmed the year before last, and I have already said goodbye to that character, and I have devoted myself to the creation of the next character. On New Year's Eve, I received a lot of information. My comrades-in-arms, relatives and friends said that your role was too good, and I saw related reports on the news. It is an incentive for me to be recognized by the audience.

There are indeed many (script) invitations at present, but for me, the cultural background of the script is very important. Whether the characters have a background can not deceive people. So when I choose a script, I still choose some characters that can be accepted by ordinary people, or who are down-to-earth.

Reporter: Before playing the old Mo in "Hurricane", you played many villains or killers. Compared with them, why is the role of Lao Mo more recognized by the audience?

Feng Bing: The villain I played before is not bad, but the script can't give that character more things, he can only be a special group of people. But the character of Lao Mo lives in the present, he is more simple and down-to-earth. Although he has done bad things, he is still persistent and pure. He has never lived for himself. He is grateful to An Xin for clearing obstacles for Gao Qiqiang, and hopes that his daughter will live well. Doesn't Lao Mo have money? No, but he still can't make himself live a good life. So what impresses the audience is not necessarily the things he did, but the emotions he has been giving for others.

Reporter: What are the difficulties in shaping this role?

Feng Bing: Unlike some characters who are endowed with big actions or exaggerated performances, Lao Mo is more like a tool man, he doesn't have so many emotions or actions. How to interpret such a tool person brilliantly is a very big test for me. In addition, I am not a father, and I have not experienced great storms. How should this special father-daughter relationship be interpreted? At that time, I couldn't sleep every day, and I kept asking myself a series of questions, such as what is Lao Mo's emotional support, what is the motivation of the characters, and so on.

Reporter: You once said, "I almost broke myself to reshape Lao Mo." In order to take on this character, how did you "break yourself"?

Feng Bing: The filming started the year before last. I got the script a month or two in advance. At that time, I had just returned from another film crew, and I still had long hair. Because I joined the filming scene of the prison first, I entered the filming group to set the makeup. He just shaved his head bald. Before starting the machine, I entered the group in advance to find local villagers to learn about fishing, killing fish, and selling fish. I also asked comrades in arms to learn about various cases, went to the orphanage to chat with people, looked for real people and real stories, and really understood how important parents are to children.

Each of us has our own special attributes, our own rhythm, breathing, heartbeat, are unique. When actors create characters, they must live as "others" in all aspects. I slowly hid myself and immersed myself in Lao Mo's calmness and loneliness. When I was on set, I was terrified of losing that stuff because it was hard to build up, so I didn't talk to anyone. In fact, it hurt a little bit, and in the end it took time to get out of this character slowly.

Reporter: In the play, the setting of "Lollipop Killer" can be described as a stroke of genius, which is the icing on the cake for the characters and even the plot. I understand that this detail is an improvisation on your part.

Feng Bing: The script of this drama is really good, the director is also very good, and every actor is a "player", and they are very good at designing their own characters. In fact, the more ruthless a person is, the more fragile his heart is. My setting at the time was to maintain a sense of distance. So although Lao Mo loves his daughter very much, he rarely has any more intimate actions with his daughter. I told my daughter, father's clothes will always be left to you, and the lollipop is also a bond between Lao Mo and his daughter.

During the performance, we improvised to give the characters more connection points. At that time, we didn't know whether it was correct. We just felt that the relationship between the characters was very comfortable. The result is very memorable after it is broadcast now, which shows that the efforts at that time were all correct.

Reporter: During the filming process, which scene impressed you the most?

Feng Bing: I didn't take every scene of Lao Mo as a cutscene. Every scene is very unforgettable, but if there is one scene that hurts me more, it should be saying goodbye to Teacher Zhang Songwen's rooftop. There was a hospital fight with Teacher Zhang Yi.

Teacher Zhang Songwen likes to improvise, he is not a show at all, because he is in the character. Teacher Zhang Yi is a very rigorous and highly professional actor. In the last scene in the hospital, he reread my lines. In order to adjust to the best state, I didn't sleep much for almost three days. (During the official shooting) I came out of the corridor with a gun and pointed at his head. At that moment, I collapsed and was really immersed. When Lao Mo died, he lowered his head silently, only then did An Xin see that his back was bleeding. At that time, the director called out after filming, but the two of us were still in that state, and no one spoke in the audience. After that, I changed my clothes quietly, and drove away slowly, and it was finished.

Reporter: "Hurricane" is not the first collaboration between you and director Xu Jizhou. Do you have any different feelings about this collaboration?

Feng Bing: The actors, the actors and the director are all mutual achievements. I found that the director is also constantly "upgrading". Unlike before, this cooperation has almost reached a state of obsession and madness. The director seems to use his life to empower the script, and I especially enjoy the serious and desperate state.

Reporter: After "Hurricane", what gains have you gained?

Feng Bing: I feel more and more that it is important to be a good person. It is important to keep the bottom line and abide by the law. We must cherish our family and our parents. I haven't been acting for a long time, I only started four years ago, so I am very lucky and content to be able to act in a good show. It doesn't matter whether it's popular or not, the protagonist and the supporting role are not important, the characters are very important. And I especially enjoy a sense of distance, as long as the audience likes this character, Feng Bing is not important, Feng Bing just completed a job.

The rivalry between Feng Bing and Zhang Songwen

Reporter: You joined the army after graduating from high school. How did this military experience affect your acting career?

Feng Bing: I am especially grateful for these experiences in the army over the past 16 years. I joined the army at the age of 18 and went to the Fifth Frontier Regiment of Alxa Left Banner in Inner Mongolia, feeding pigs, raising sheep, growing vegetables, and then serving as guard in the desert. That period of time was very important to me. When I had close contact with nature, including wild animals, I realized that human beings are actually very small. It also made me think about the meaning of life. Then I was transferred to the Air Force as a signal soldier, and then transferred to the Beikong performance team. Learn to control my temper, adjust my self-cultivation, get in touch with more different people, and listen to their opinions, which gave me a lot of inspiration, and also helped my performance a lot. When playing different people, I can mobilize different talents at any time. mood.

Reporter: Do you have any new ideas or plans for future work?

Feng Bing: Continue to do well as an actor, and shape different roles well. In fact, I have acted in so many plays, basically all villains. I want to play a policeman, and I really hope to receive a positive role in the future. If the script is also very good, then I am really grateful.
