In 1991, "Opening the World" won the Special Award of the 12th China Film Golden Rooster Award, the Excellent Film Award of the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television, and the Excellent Film Award of the 2nd Shanghai Literature and Art Awards, and was included in the "Five One Project" of the Propaganda Department "Film works and one of the annual "Top Ten Films" of the Shanghai Film Critics Awards.
