Angels also have to resort to temptation if they want to accomplish something. Aziraphale (played by Mike Sheen) volunteered to be the sponsor of this month's shopping district meeting. In order to get the shopkeepers to actively participate, he reluctantly gave up his rare books and promised to give away a "first edition of the 1965 Doctor Who Yearbook".
The second season of "Good Omens", which is separated from the original work, has a looser story than the first season. The imminent war between heaven and hell has pressed the pause button, and the bureaucracies on both sides continue to operate according to inertia. The angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley (played by David Tennant), who have worked closely together for many years, still live in this London shopping street. At any time, there is a crowd of people outside the window of the rare bookseller Aziraphale. There are too many people, which seems to be a way to make up for the depression caused by the epidemic, but it also reveals a bit of weirdness.
Good Omens Season 2 Poster
Doctor Who viewers will be very familiar with this sense of everyday weirdness. A heartwarming scene is taking place on the stage, and time passes endlessly, until suddenly the lights change from warm to cold, and it turns out that beneath the human face is something inhuman. Weirdness swallows up the everyday and shatters the eternal river of time.
"Good Omens", a tribute to "Doctor Who", gradually overlaps with it. In this season, angels and demons who have been relegated from heaven and hell no longer need to prevent the war that destroys the earth. The metaphor of World War II was stripped away, and they were given another adventurous mission - to protect the archangel Gabriel (played by Jim Hahn) who was also demoted and lost his memory. Gabriel descended to the shopping street naked like a god, his mind went blank, and all memories related to holiness and power were erased. Jim Hahn returns to his roots, sweetly and proudly becoming a bookstore assistant.

Heaven is looking for him, and hell is looking for him. This main line hardly constitutes the driving force of the plot. The task is too easy, so the angels and demons have enough time to draw out the memory strips, bringing a "Doctor Who"-style space travel experience.
They appear in both major and minor human moments: participating in Job's condemnation by God, at the dawn of modern medicine, and dealing with corpse-stealing doctors and homeless people. They saved the lives of some friends during the bombing of London in World War II. Under the shadow of the living dead, they perform a life-and-death magic involving trust.
These time travels are very light, more nonsensical than Doctor Who, and there is no need for any seriousness or heaviness. Aziraphale and Crowley have become infinitely closer to humans. Losing the collision of values of angels and demons will certainly lose some fun. The various weirdness and regrets in time travel - happy salvation and irreparable death, make up for the joy of watching them bicker and argue about good and evil.

Three big names from The League of Gentlemen make guest appearances. They play the role of low-level demons and living dead. They have no brains and are always fooled. They wander among the green hell offices and the ruins of London.
The three of them are not the only ones who are brainless. Nearly every character in this season exhibits the innocence of earlier comedies. Even the cunning and sophisticated devil Crowley knows nothing about human love. The scheming Gabriel has now become an innocent man due to his amnesia.
The most stupid ones are the bureaucracy in heaven and hell. The low-level clerks in heaven and the clerks in hell, the kind-hearted ones have degraded intelligence, and the ambitious ones are extremely stupid. Senior officials are obsessed with power games and know nothing about or care about other matters. Being trapped in the bureaucracy for a long time has polished off their personalities and given off a dull thief glow. These are screws without edges and corners, spinning idling in a huge machine.
Facial-like characters are best suited to express the strange features of this system. This season of "Good Omens" has a strong interest in political satire. Both heaven and hell are tiring. In the end, they are no different. They are all equally hierarchical, procrastinating, and full of bureaucracy.
Heaven is as bright as the headquarters of a high-tech company, while hell is as crowded as the industrial age. Whether the space is open or the air is stale, time passes slowly and the bureaucracy is empty and boring. The little clerical angel described his work as, "It takes hundreds of years for someone to come to me and ask for documents." The devil in hell breaks his scalp to get promoted, and doesn't hesitate at all before disappearing into ashes.

The disadvantages of bureaucracy are similar. The heaven and hell in "Good Omens" are almost exactly the same as those in "Journey to the West". If Sun Monkey is a half-hearted rebel, Demon Crowley is a complete rebel, with free will and a spirit of play. David Tennant not only looks like, but also looks like Chow Yun-fat in his heyday. Both male stars are best at such a free and uninhibited role, with long and thin limbs, flamboyant behavior, strong imitation skills, and extremely charming eyes. Taking off his sunglasses, David Tennant's snake eyes are really eye-catching.
And his close friend Aziraphale, even though he had spent so much time on earth side by side with him, was still half-loyal to heaven, so they parted ways.
In the end, Aziraphale gave up his beloved rare books, accepted the bouquet of power, and wanted to transform heaven. But power deceived him. The elevator leading to heaven rose slowly, as if witnessing Monkey Monkey being possessed by the idea of becoming a Buddha immediately. The heroes in Liangshanbo abandoned their armor and surrendered, and a familiar melancholy filled their hearts.
Read a book, "A book is a friend you can carry with you." Listen to a song, "A song is a message conveyed by a beautiful melody." Line up for a cup of coffee early in the morning and attend a dance party with free refreshments after closing. Believe in the reliable parts of life, open your heart at the same time, become calm about the sudden appearance of magic, and walk through the cavalcade of devils with peace of mind.
This is a comfort unique to British dramas. Seeing them having fun in a serious manner, I seemed to be a few years younger.
