    Today (28th), Red Star News reporters learned that Mr. Wei Minglun, a famous contemporary Chinese playwright, essayist, and poet, died in Chengdu on the morning of May 28, 2024, at the age of 83, after treatment failed due to illness.

    Wei Minglun made a living singing in his childhood. In 1950, he joined the Zigong Sichuan Opera Troupe and studied literature on his own in his spare time. In 1957, he began to publish works. He is the author of scripts such as "Easy to Be Bold", "Four Girls", "Double Ninth Festival", "Bashan Scholar", "Pan Jinlian", "Sunset on Qishan", "Changing Faces", "Chinese Princess Turandot", etc., and essay collections "Bashan Ghost Stories" and "Essays of Wei Minglun". "Wei Minglun's Essays" and so on. He has written more than 50 parallel-style inscriptions, such as "Ode to the Hall", "Ode to the Corridor Bridge" and "Ode to the Archway", which have been erected in various places. The scripts "Easy to Be Daring", "Four Girls", "Bashan Scholar" and "Face Changing" all won the National Outstanding Script Award.
