Meet better times with movies and meet better life in the city. The 26th Shanghai International Film Festival will officially open on June 14.

As one of the important sections of the Shanghai International Film Festival, the "Belt and Road" Film Week will continue to bring a series of activities such as film screenings and post-screening meet-and-greets, and will especially present a "Latin American Style" carnival that combines audio-visual and taste bud experiences. 2024 "Belt and Road" Film Week Commemorative Ticket Stub

Director and actor Dapeng (Dong Chengpeng) and actor and producer Yao Chen were invited to serve as the promotion ambassadors of this year's "Belt and Road" Film Week. They will participate deeply in the series of activities of this film week and promote related exchanges and dissemination through their respective industry influence. "Belt and Road" Film Week Film Screening

June 14 - June 23

Location: Cooperative cinemas in the Yangtze River Delta region

Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou

Hangzhou, Ningbo, Hefei

This year's "Belt and Road" Film Week Film Festival is themed "The Road of Courage" and will present 18 wonderful films from different countries. The protagonists in the stories either break through their inner constraints or go to strange and distant places, taking their brave "step in life". Among them, the 8 shortlisted works selected by professional film selectors will compete for the three honors of "Filmmaker of Media Attention", "Film of Media Attention" and "Most Popular Film among Audiences". Audiences watching the movies on site, remember to vote for the film you love!

The film "Double Warehouse", written by Huo Xueying and Zhang Yudi, directed by Zhang Yudi, starring Bian Cheng, Zhou Meijun, Zhang Chi and Chen Shaoxi, will be the opening film of this year's "Belt and Road" Film Week and will hold its China premiere during the Shanghai International Film Festival on June 14.

"Daocang" refers to the process of voice change during adolescence of opera actors. Sun Xiaolei's family has studied opera for three generations. His grandfather is a famous old-style actor. His father failed in "Daocang" when he was young and was frustrated. Carrying the halo of his grandfather and his father's unfulfilled dream, Sun Xiaolei is conceited and nervous. It is an important selection, and the delayed voice change period makes him anxious. In the process of preparing for the competition, Sun Xiaolei unexpectedly becomes friends with Shi Jiahui, a tomboyish old-style female actor, and Xie Tianci, who comes from a famous Peking Opera family. In this long summer, the three teenagers will usher in a "Daocang" belonging to adolescence.

In addition to "The Barn", the films selected for the Film Week, "Goodbye, Julia", "If I Could Hibernate", "Matriline", "Born by the Shore", "The Colonizers" and "The Murderesses" will each bring a screening event with a meet-and-greet with the main creators. Some sessions were quickly sold out on the day of ticket sales.

The meet-and-greet sessions with a few remaining tickets include: Goodbye, Julia, the first Sudanese film in history to be shortlisted for the Cannes official unit (15:30 on June 14); If I Could Hibernate, which shows the growth and transformation of a Mongolian boy in the winter scenery (18:00 on June 14); The sincere and delicate female film Matriline from Colombia (13:00 on June 15); The documentary Living Along the Shore, in which Mexican musicians express their love for their hometown and tradition (18:00 on June 15). This year, the "Belt and Road" Film Week will bring a new presentation - the "Latin American Style" Carnival at Bicester Village, Shanghai International Tourism Resort. Closing Ceremony of the 2023 Belt and Road Film Week

The closing ceremony of the Belt and Road Film Week is the special finale of the Shanghai International Film Festival’s Belt and Road Film Week. The results of the three honorary selections of the film week will also be announced here. The closing ceremony will also invite Chinese and foreign filmmakers, film week promotion ambassadors and other guests to gather together for face-to-face exchanges and share experiences and insights in the film and television industry.

During the "Belt and Road" Film Week, in addition to inviting audiences from all over the world to watch the latest films from all over the world and to have close exchanges with filmmakers from all walks of life, we will also provide "Belt and Road" guests with opportunities to further understand Shanghai and delve into local culture. We invite guests from all countries to experience the Chinese speed, understand Chinese culture, taste Chinese food, and feel the rich charm of Chinese culture with a long history and profoundness, under the guidance of local guides.

This year, we will also set up an Easter egg experience session - inviting international filmmakers to sit around the table and eat skewers together, experience the "20 Minutes in the Park", and experience and feel the oriental cultural charm of Ba Duan Jin.

The "Belt and Road" Film Week is jointly organized by the Shanghai International Tourism Resort Management Committee, the Publicity Department of the Shanghai Pudong New Area District Committee (District Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau), and the Shanghai International Film and Television Festival Center. Thanks to the strong support of the cooperative units, institutions and relevant partners, and we will wait and see for more exciting things!

The Belt and Road Film Festival Alliance was initiated by the Shanghai International Film Festival Organizing Committee and established in 2018. It now has 55 institutional members from 48 countries. Under the background of the Belt and Road Initiative, with the mutual recommendation of films and mutual visits of filmmakers as the core, we will jointly enhance the ability of film curation, promote mutual understanding among filmmakers, promote film cooperation projects, strengthen film and cultural exchanges among countries, establish a close information sharing mechanism, and explore the future development model of film festivals. Since the establishment of the "Belt and Road" Film Festival Alliance, the Shanghai International Film Festival has cooperated with the Publicity Department of the Shanghai Pudong New Area District Committee (District Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau) and the Shanghai International Tourism Resort Management Committee to host the "Belt and Road" Film Week and create a "Belt and Road" film tour mechanism, which has effectively promoted two-way exchanges and mutual learning among filmmakers and film culture in countries along the route, and more effectively enhanced cultural exchanges and people-to-people connections between countries along the route.
