    The list of nine honorary works of the 6th OUTDOCS Outdoor Image Carnival is released

    On June 30, the final review conference of the 6th OUTDOCS China International Outdoor Imaging Carnival, co-organized by SMG Documentary Center and the OUTDOCS China International Outdoor Imaging Carnival Organizing Committee, was held at the ISPO Shanghai Outdoor Sports Exhibition, and the list of nine honorary works was officially announced.

    After four months of solicitation, the sixth OUTDOCS global film received 1,656 works from 105 countries and regions around the world, covering three major themes: extreme adventure and sports, natural ecology and environmental protection, and outdoor culture and lifestyle. After screening and preliminary evaluation, 65 works entered the re-evaluation. After strict screening by the re-evaluation jury composed of representatives from documentary production platforms and outdoor sports image production representatives, 25 works finally entered the final evaluation to compete for nine honorary projects.

    The final judging team of this year's Outdoor Image Carnival covers multiple fields such as film and television, sports, operations, and media, including the well-known documentary photographer Sun Shaoguang, national mountaineering athlete Wang Qiuyan, National Geographic Brand Content and Business Cooperation Director Wang Yan, Shanghai Radio and Television Documentary Center Party Secretary and Director Wang Lijun, and national first-level director, current Bilibili Documentary Senior Consultant, and Beijing Normal University Documentary Center Visiting Professor Zhang Li.

    "Lynx Guardian"

    After the final review, the list of nine honorary works was released. The Finnish documentary "Lynx Guardian" won two honors: the annual outstanding documentary feature and the outstanding natural ecology and environmental protection documentary. The film tells the story of a Finnish hermit who uses a hidden camera to record shy and endangered lynx at night, and depicts a colorful and vivid twilight picture through unforgettable beautiful shots.

    "Ms. Deda Returns to the Sea" won the annual Outstanding Documentary Short, "Facing the Cruel Wall" won the Outstanding Adventure Spirit Documentary, "Silent Autumn" won the Outstanding Outdoor Humanities Documentary, "The Fifth Tide" won the Outstanding Visual Presentation Documentary, and "Animals" won the Media Special Recommendation Outstanding Documentary and Surprise Honor. The above films are all excellent works that have won awards at internationally renowned film festivals such as Canada HOTDOCS, the United States Sundance Film Festival, the UK Sheffield Film Festival, the Jackson Wild Nature Film Festival, the Canadian Banff Mountain Film Festival, and the UK Kendal Mountain Film Festival.

    It is worth mentioning that the Chinese Story Special Recommendation for Excellent Documentary belongs to "Our Biodiversity - Zhuonai Lake", which is also the first documentary reflecting the biodiversity in the hinterland of Hoh Xil. The front-line scientific research team spent two years to show the grand and magnificent natural landscape of the hinterland of Hoh Xil and lead people to peek into the hidden animal world of Zhuonai Lake. Another Chinese documentary nominated at the same time is "The Wonder of Life - Medog Forest".

    Fauna

    "Animals" won the Media Special Recommendation Excellent Documentary Award. This honor was decided by the voting of 9 organizations and media representatives, including "Mofang.com, ISPO Outdoor Exhibition, Shanshui Nature Conservation Center, Cross-country TALK, Weibo Documentary, Guided Pole, Record Commune, Concave and Convex Mirror, and Authentic Scenery and Biology Image Annual Competition Organizing Committee".

    It is reported that OUTDOCS is currently the only international collection platform for outdoor documentaries in China, aiming to use documentaries to freeze and pay tribute to the magnificent world landscape and the ever-advancing spirit of human adventure, and to create an outdoor image aesthetic and communication system with Chinese characteristics. With documentaries as a carrier, it helps develop the natural, cultural tourism, sports, outdoor culture and imaging industries, and integrates the resources of the entire industry to maximize their use through a series of outdoor cultural tourism and sports promotion activities such as international collection and selection, market transactions, industry exchanges, professional forums, international training and public screenings, to promote industry exchanges, transactions and cooperation, and to convey a healthy and positive lifestyle to the public.

    Since its establishment in 2017, OUTDOCS has been held annually. In 2019, it began to set up competition and public performance projects. So far, it has received more than 4,000 works from more than 100 countries and regions, covering themes such as sportsmanship, nature exploration, outdoor culture, extreme sports, environmental protection, travel humanities, mountain culture, etc., involving more than ten kinds of outdoor sports categories such as climbing, skiing, cross-country running, paragliding, rock climbing, ice climbing, slacklining, kayaking, deep diving, cycling, etc., with very rich content. Among them, there are many films that have won awards and been shortlisted in internationally renowned mountain film festivals, and have a certain international influence.

    The 7th OUTDOCS Global Call for Submissions Launched

    Currently, the seventh OUTDOCS global collection of works is under preparation, and the collection rules and other image communication information will be released soon.
