As another animated masterpiece following the release of "The Umbrella Girl" this summer, whether "Falling into the Mortal Realm" can set off the domestic animation trend of last year's summer season is undoubtedly highly anticipated by the audience.

"Falling into the Mortal World" unfolds the story of the descendants of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl: Jinfeng, the son of the Weaver Girl, descends to the mortal world to conquer the stars in order to atone for his mother's sins, but unexpectedly forms an alliance with Xiaofan (Yu Lu), a girl who wants to go to the gods to find her mother, and embarks on an adventure of ups and downs. The heavenly Jinfeng is introverted and aloof, while Yu Lu in the human world is playful and carefree. The contrast between the roles of "I God" and "E Human" often sparks sparks, which makes people laugh.

Jinfeng and Yulu are a pair of happy enemies

According to reports, "Falling into the Mortal World" is a feature film based on a short film. Its predecessor is a special video of the student short film "Dream of Graduation Project" of the School of Visual Arts and Design of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. It has more than 10 million views on Bilibili and won many professional awards such as the Silver Award of the 2020 Little Universe Rising Star Project, the Best Art Work, and the Bronze Award of the Best College Animation Award of the 17th China Animation Golden Dragon Award. It has been five years since the project was launched. Under the repeated "urging" of many anime fans, it has finally come out.

At the premiere, director Zhong Ding, an associate professor at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, looked back with deep emotion, saying that it was not easy to come this far, from leading 13 students to complete their graduation projects to working with more than 2,000 animation artists from more than 50 teams during the creation of the feature film. "We dug up treasures from traditional culture, chose the story of the descendants of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, and found the core proposition that 'emotions are the magic of mortals.' It is our dream and the motivation for us to make movies to let more people see the creativity and sincerity of my students and the entire creative team."

Chief producer Huang Long said that the production team has put a lot of effort into the character's personality, clothing, accessories, and even the subtle expressions that are not easily perceived by the audience. They have made detailed creations almost in "frames", striving to present a real, vivid and interesting screen image to the audience. "This is a dream that needs to be based on RMB. It is very expensive to achieve such a degree of completion. As an original project, a new director, and a new IP, I hope everyone can give "Falling into the Mortal World" more opportunities and a little more space."

Talking about the expansion from short films to feature films, screenwriter Kang Fu, who is in charge of the "root of the play" of the film, made a vivid metaphor, "We put the focus of the story on the family affection of the characters. Jinfeng and Yulu are a pair of happy enemies and brother and sister partners. They use the love and warmth they get in the mortal world to realize the unfinished mission of Zhinu. This is a circle of the power of love surging among family members."

Li Xin, who voiced Jin Feng in the film, revealed that after watching the finished film for the first time, "I cried with screenwriter Kang Fu." Liu Xiaoyu, who voiced Yu Lu, exclaimed, "I finally saw Yu Lu 'live' on the big screen. She is a very simple, direct and persistent girl, just like a little sun." The land god in the film contributed a lot of laughter in the theater. Voice actor Fu Bowen said, "Every staff member has made contributions, big or small, and together they are like stars. You may not be able to see every one of them, but every time we blink, it is for your happiness."

In the post-screening discussion session, Zhao Ji, the director of New Gods: Yang Jian, took the lead in speaking: "3D animation has always wanted to create some visual effects design that is unique to China, and I think this film has done it. The silk threads in the film, including the sky curtain, these visual effects are very eye-catching from the idea to the final presentation, and have a unique oriental charm and characteristics."

Yu Zhou, president of Light Chaser Animation, praised the film, saying, "We are inheriting and reinterpreting traditional stories, telling new classic stories to contemporary audiences. This is very meaningful and worth continuing." He also called on everyone to "hope that everyone will cheer for "Falling into the Mortal Realm" to have a good screening schedule, so that the summer season can be prosperous and the summer of movies can truly arrive."
