On September 13, “@Movie749” announced on Weibo that the film "Operation 749" is set to release on October 1.

"Operation 749" is written and directed by Lu Chuan and stars Wang Junkai, Miao Miao, Zheng Kai, Ren Min, and Xin Baiqing among others.

The film is inspired by director Lu Chuan’s experiences working in the 749th Unit after graduating from military academy. It tells the coming-of-age story of the soldiers in the third squad of the 749th Unit as they confront a massive disaster in the "near future" of 2030.

Filming for "Operation 749" began in November 2018 in Chongqing and wrapped in July 2019. In recent years, it has frequently appeared on upcoming film lists, and on March 26 this year, "Operation 749" resumed filming for additional scenes.
