The renowned voice actor for Stephen Chow, She Ban Yu, has passed away at the age of 66.

On September 18, the family of renowned voice actor Shi Banyu posted an obituary online, announcing that he passed away peacefully in Beijing on September 17 at 11:41 AM, at the age of 66. It is reported that Shi Banyu's farewell ceremony will be held on September 20 at the Babaoshan Funeral Home in Beijing.

Following the announcement, voice actor Ye Qing, who had worked with Shi Banyu for many years, shared a heartfelt tribute on Weibo, reposting Shi Banyu's last moments on social media.

Shi Banyu, whose real name was Shi Renmao, was born on March 9, 1958, in Taiwan, China, and hailed from Guilin, Guangxi. He started his career in broadcasting and began voice acting in the 1980s. In 1990, he voiced Stephen Chow for the first time in the movie "God of Gamblers." The exaggerated acting of Stephen Chow paired perfectly with Shi Banyu's absurd voice, making him the premier Mandarin voice for Chow, leading to collaborations on more than twenty films. It is said that some famous lines from Chow's movies, such as "I服了you" and "我走先," along with his iconic laughter, were designed by Shi Banyu. Additionally, actor Hu Licheng, who voiced characters for Wu Mengda's movies, passed away in 2015.

In the 1990s, Wang Weizhong, Shi Banyu, and Stephen Chow recorded a radio program.

In addition to his work in Stephen Chow's films, Shi Banyu also provided voices for characters like Li Gongfu in the TV series "The Legend of the White Snake" and Shan Ji in the "Young and Dangerous" series. From 2006 onward, he appeared in several TV dramas and films, including "Encountering Love," "Warriors," and "Give Me a Reason Before Lighting Autumn Fragrance."
