This year, a total of five films, "Nezha: The Devil Child Conquers the Dragon King", "Detective Chinatown 1900", "Fengshen II: The Battle of Xiqi", "The Legend of the Condor Heroes: The Greatest Hero" and "Operation Jiaolong", were released in IMAX theaters during the Spring Festival, setting a new record for the scale of IMAX's Spring Festival film list.
Among them, the animated blockbuster "Nezha: The Devil Boy Conquers the Dragon King" produced by Enlight Media led the IMAX box office with RMB 260 million, and broke the record of the highest box office of IMAX animated films in the opening weekend with RMB 161 million, ranking fourth on the IMAX domestic film box office list. Moreover, as the sequel to IMAX's first domestic animated film "Nezha: The Devil Boy Comes into the World", it took only seven days to surpass the first film's IMAX box office of US$35 million after more than two months of screening.
Taking advantage of the popularity of the Spring Festival, IMAX will continue to help excellent domestic films go overseas. It is reported that "Fengshen II: The Battle of Xiqi" and "Detective Chinatown 1900" have been released in some IMAX theaters in 11 countries around the world, with box office revenue outside the Chinese market exceeding 1.2 million US dollars. "Nezha: The Devil Boy Conquers the Dragon King" will also be exclusively screened in IMAX theaters in Australia and New Zealand starting February 6.
Next, in addition to the films in the Spring Festival, Disney's new Marvel movie "Captain America 4" will be released in IMAX theaters on February 14, simultaneously with its release in North America; and the classic love movie "In the Mood for Love" directed by Wong Kar-wai will also be re-screened in IMAX theaters on the same day.
