

From April 11th to April 20th, the Shanghai Art Film Alliance will hold a "Japanese Film Exhibition" at Shanghai Cinema SHO.
The film festival is divided into two parts. The first part is a personal retrospective of the most famous young director Uta Miyake, and the second part is a classic film restoration exhibition, which allows the audience to experience the different experiences brought by modern films and classics. In addition, the film festival specially invited director Uta Miyake to Shanghai to meet with the audience after the screening.

The specific screening list is as follows:
1. A collection of short films by Uta Miyake (1999, Nagahama, August 8th, The Messenger and the Keeper, Journey to the Wild)

"1999" (1999): The first short film shot by Usagi Miyake when he was in his third year of junior high school, which features a chase scene that takes place on campus.
"Nagahama" (2016) and "August 8th" (2016): two short films created by actress Shizuka Ishibashi, who has studied ballet and modern dance since childhood, and director Usagi Miyake. As a preparation for "Your Bird Can Sing", they explored what kind of attractive body should be in the film through daily body movements and dance movements.
The Envoy and the Keeper (2017): In the early 19th century, a group of Dutch scholars who were looking forward to the founding of a new country secretly copied a map of Japan. In order to hand over the copy of the map to the Dutch, they sent the young Dutch scholar Daoan as a secret envoy.
"Wild Journey" (2018): Director Miyake filmed the film with junior and senior high school students while thinking about the script and performance, and their own awkward growth was also recorded.
2. Useless Man (2010)

A work by rising Japanese film director Uta Miyake, it tells the story of a trio of people who are about to graduate from high school and start working part-time at a local security company where their predecessors work. Set in Hokkaido, the film uses black and white images to capture the daily lives and work of clumsy high school students, as well as the unexpected events they get involved in.
3. Playback (2012)

This work by Japanese new film director Utsumi Miyake tells the story of a film actor who is at a crossroads in his life at the age of 40, who has reached a bottleneck in his career and is separated from his wife. In this state, he accepts the invitation of an old friend and embarks on a journey back to his hometown.
4. Miyake Uta's documentary short film collection ("Cockpit" and "Silent Diary 2018")

"Cockpit" (2015): A work by Japanese film director Usagi Miyake, it tells the story of the highly anticipated hip-hop groups OMSB and Bim, who together with their partners created a lively music that is like a comedy movie. This film records this process and also presents a connection with our daily life and creation.
"Silent Diary 2018" (2018): A work by new Japanese film director Usagi Miyake, this film is a collection of video diaries that were created since 2014 using only the video function of the iPhone, without any written language.
5. Heaven and Hell (1963)

A classic work by Japanese film master Akira Kurosawa, it tells the story of a shoe industry executive who was kidnapped by his son, and later discovered that the kidnappers had kidnapped the wrong person. However, this did not stop the kidnappers from intimidating and bribing the executive, but the kidnappers' conspiracy went far beyond this.
6. Tsubaki Sanjuro (1962)

A classic work by Japanese film master Akira Kurosawa, it tells the story of the samurai Tsubaki Sanjuro who met nine young samurai. When the latter wanted to join the Omegatsu, they were ambushed. Fortunately, they were rescued by Tsubaki Sanjuro. After that, the ten of them worked together to destroy the shogunate's mastermind and complete the battle of justice.
7. Afterwards (1985)

A classic work by Japanese film master Yoshimitsu Morita, it tells the story of a wealthy boy from a wealthy family who is urged to get married by his family, but he has always loved his best friend's wife in his heart. When his best friend has an affair due to family misfortune, he seems to see an opportunity for love.
8. Spring Love Letter (1996)

A classic work by Japanese film master Yoshimitsu Morita, it tells the story of three young people who met on an online movie BBS forum and then became netizens. While chatting, they slowly got to know each other and gradually, they wanted to meet in person.

Ticket information: Except for "Playback", "Useless Man" and "Miyake Uta Documentary Short Film Collection" which are priced at 70 yuan per film, the rest of the films in this film festival are priced at 80 yuan per film (excluding network service fees).
