The documentary was co-produced by young directors Qin Bo and Liu Yue from Shanghai TV Real Media, using documentary techniques to present the real process of high-quality and efficient case handling by the procuratorial organs in the new era. The studio team has long been focusing on social reality themes, and its representative works such as "The World of Man", "The First Time in Life", "First Response" and "Fire Rescue" have won many important awards at home and abroad.
"The Interests of the People" focuses on hot events that concern the interests of the people, and provides answers through the exploration and practice of the procuratorate in many fields such as ecological environment protection, women's rights protection, personal information protection, cultural relics and cultural heritage protection, and barrier-free environment construction.
The documentary follows prosecutors and immersively records the case-handling process, witnessing the rectification of "hard bones" and "long-standing" public interest damage issues. Through the authenticity of conflicts and their resolution, it presents the complexity of public interest litigation and highlights the supervisory attributes, governance characteristics and institutional advantages of public interest litigation by prosecutors.

"The Interests of the People" is advised by Zhang Xueqiao, Deputy Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and is guided throughout by the Public Interest Litigation Procuratorate and the Press Office of the Supreme People's Procuratorate to ensure the accuracy and standardization of case records.
Each episode of the documentary deals with a very impactful and newsworthy social issue. How to express these themes well is full of challenges and tests for directors.
In the early stage of research, the main creative team and the filming crew established contact with the procuratorates of more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government, followed the front-line prosecutors to discuss, collect evidence, negotiate, and hold hearings, personally experienced case handling activities, accumulated case materials, and conducted in-depth research on nearly 100 specific cases that were being handled or prepared for filing. From the perspective of the people's urgent needs, they selected representative and typical cases to show the tip of the iceberg of the public interest litigation work of the procuratorate. The team also visited relevant experts and scholars, NPC deputies, volunteers, etc., striving to jump out of the procuratorate to look at the procuratorate, and present public participation and social consensus.
