    Shu Qi serves as a jury member for the main competition unit of the Venice Film Festival

    On July 13, the 80th Venice Film Festival announced the jury lineup, and actor Shu Qi will be the judge of the main competition unit.

    The jury for the main competition unit of this year’s Venice Film Festival is led by American director Damien Chazelle and includes Palestinian actor Sarai Bakri, New Zealand director Jane Campion, and French director Mia Hansen-Love , Italian director Gabriel Menetti, Irish director Martin Macdonald, Argentine director Santiago Mitre, American director Laura Petras, and Chinese actor Shu Qi.

    So far, Shu Qi has gathered the grand slam of judges for the main competition unit of the three major European film festivals. Before that, she served as a judge for the main competition unit of the Berlin Film Festival in 2008 and as a judge for the main competition unit of the Cannes Film Festival in 2009. She is the third Chinese actor to accomplish this achievement, the previous two being Gong Li and Maggie Cheung.

    It is reported that this year's Venice Film Festival will be held from August 30th to September 9th.
