According to box office statistics, this year's summer hit "Inside Out 2" has grossed $1.46 billion worldwide, surpassing "Frozen 2"'s $1.45 billion to become the new box office champion for animated films in history.
Both Inside Out 2 and Frozen 2 are produced by the Disney Group, the former from Pixar Animation Studios and the latter from Disney Animation Studios. Both studios released congratulatory pictures to celebrate the record being broken. Of the $1.46 billion in box office revenue that Inside Out 2 has received so far, $600 million came from North America and $860 million from overseas, including 328 million yuan in mainland China.
