Jingyunli was built in 1925. It is adjacent to the street of cultural celebrities on Duolun Road in Shanghai and is known as China's "first cultural celebrity street". In the late 1920s, a large number of representatives of modern Chinese literature, such as Lu Xun, Chen Wangdao, Mao Dun, Ye Shengtao, Feng Xuefeng, and Rou Shi, all walked into Jingyunli, making this ordinary alley a base camp for cultural celebrities and a source of progressive culture. On March 2, 1930, Lu Xun, Rou Shi, Feng Xuefeng and others set out from Jingyunli and went to the China University of Art, which was a few dozen meters away, to attend the founding meeting of the Chinese Left-wing Writers' League.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the League of Left-wing Writers, and in response to the call of the National Radio and Television Administration's "Travel with Micro-Short Plays" creation plan, the short play "Jingyunli" is scheduled to be launched in 2025. The script of the play is supervised by Professor Huang Changyong, Dean of Shanghai Theatre Academy, Professor Xiao Xiangning of Shanghai Theatre Academy is the chief screenwriter, and Associate Professor Liao Yijing is the producer, leading the Shanghai Theatre Academy Master of Fine Arts (MFA) team to create it together.
Professor Xiao Xiangning told The Paper that the play tells the entrepreneurial story of the hero and heroine who jointly created the Shanghai red cultural tourism theater space "Jingyunli". It dramatically reproduces many famous red historical scenes, integrates the daily life of literary youths such as Lu Xun's family banquet and Neishan Bookstore, and interprets a romantic dialogue across time and space between a group of "post-wave" artistic youths and left-wing writers in a "play within a play" way. The play unlocks Shanghai's red landmarks, highlights the red culture, Shanghai culture, and Jiangnan culture, and aims to create a boutique short play with both historical weight and artistic expression.
