On May 8, local time, the final list of films for the 78th Cannes Film Festival was announced. Surprisingly, Chinese director Bi Gan's new film "Wild Times" became the only film added to the main competition unit and will compete for the Palme d'Or.

"Wild Times" is starred by Yi Yang Qianxi and Shu Qi.
"Wild Times" is Bi Gan's third feature film after "Roadside Picnic" and "The Last Night on Earth". It stars Yi Yangqianxi, Shu Qi, Zhao Youting, Li Gengxi, Huang Jue and others. The film is a sci-fi suspense theme, telling the story of a bionic man resurrected in time and space. According to the official schedule released by Cannes, the film is 2 hours and 40 minutes long and will premiere in the Lumiere Hall in Cannes on May 22.

"Wild Times" just wrapped on April 8th.
It is worth mentioning that the film was just finished on April 8, and when the Cannes organizers announced the film list twice on April 10 and April 23, the film was not on the list. This time, Bi Gan was able to complete the editing within the limit. It is a pleasant surprise that "Wild Times" can become the only Chinese film shortlisted in the main competition unit of Cannes this year. Bi Gan's previous work "The Last Night on Earth" was shortlisted in the Cannes Un Certain Regard unit in 2018. "Wild Times" is the first work of the 36-year-old to be shortlisted in the main competition unit of the "Three Major European Film Festivals".
The 78th Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 13 to May 24. Famous French actress Juliette Binoche will serve as the president of the jury of the main competition unit.
