    Tony Leung won the "Asian Filmmaker Award" at the Busan Film Festival

    A few days ago, the Organizing Committee of the Busan Film Festival announced that this year's 27th "Asian Filmmaker Award" will be awarded to Hong Kong actor Tony Leung. It is reported that Tony Leung will attend the opening ceremony of the film festival on October 5.     The "Asian Filmmaker Award" of the Busan Film Festival aims to recognize actors, directors or organizations with outstanding performances in the Asian region that year. Hou Hsiao-hsien, Andy Lau, Yang Dechang, Tsai Ming-liang, Tsui Hark, Japan's Studio Ghibli, etc. have all won the award.

    The Busan Film Festival is held every year at the film hall near Haeundae in early October. This year's event will be held from October 5th to October 14th. It is also the first time that it has returned to normal after three years of the epidemic. For a long time, the Busan Film Festival has been focusing on new Asian films and is committed to discovering and promoting new Asian filmmakers. Among them, the most attention is the New Wave Award in the only competition unit. Shortlisted works must be the debut or second feature films of new Asian directors. The directors of the two works that have won the highest honors will receive a bonus of US$30,000.

    This year's chairman of the jury of the New Wave Awards is Serge Toubiana, a senior French film critic who has been the editor-in-chief of Cahiers du Cinéma for many years; " and other films by French director Alain Guiraudie and Japanese actor Ryo Kase. Directed by Japanese director Nao Kubota and starring Yuko Tanaka, Machiko Ono and Masanobu Ando, ten new works from South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, India and other places including "A Thousand Nights, One Night" were shortlisted for this year's New Wave Award. It is a pity that there is no Chinese-language film in it. This is the first time that a Chinese-language film has been absent from the New Wave Award shortlist in eight years.     The Puil Film Awards, which are based on films released in Korean theaters in the past year, will be announced on October 6. "In Front of You" directed by Hong Changxiu, "Resolve to Break Up" directed by Park Chan-wook, "The Broker" directed by Hiroka Shi-eda, and "Extraordinary Declaration" directed by Han Jae-rim were shortlisted. Chinese actor Tang Wei is also on the list for "Resolve to Break Up" and will compete with Jeon Do-yeon of "Extraordinary Declaration" for the Best Actress award.

    In addition, the special section of this year's Busan Film Festival will focus on new Japanese films released after 2010, and will screen ten works including "Keiko, Look Good", "The Third Lucky" and "Where Is My Hometown". Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi will show Act as a film picker.
