The TV series "Steel Age", directed by Kong Sheng and co-starred by Chen Baoguo, Feng Yuanzheng, Jiang Hongbo, Zhang Yi and Xie Gang, will be released on the "Revisit Classics" channel on March 6, taking you back to the steel years full of passion and dreams. The play tells the story of the workers who took root in Anshan Iron and Steel, and worked hard to build Anshan Iron and Steel under various difficulties, delicately restoring the history of Anshan Iron and Steel's construction and development in the early days of the founding of New China.
In the spring of 1948, the War of Liberation broke out. Shang Tielong (played by Chen Baoguo), the company commander of the Communist Party's Shandong Company, led his troops to attack Anshan and was injured in a stalemate with the Kuomintang defending enemy company commander Yang Shoushan (played by Feng Yuanzheng).
Shang Tielong's wife Mai Cao (played by Jiang Hongbo) immediately rushed to Anshan after receiving the notice of her husband's "death in action", but could not find Shang Tielong's body. Mai Cao wanted to find a job while looking for Shang Tielong, so she stayed in Anshan and went to work in a factory. However, she met Yang Shoushan by chance, and the two gradually developed feelings for each other.
On the other hand, Shang Tielong returned to Anshan Iron and Steel Company happily after recovering from his injury, eager to continue to shed blood on this familiar land. However, fate played a trick on him. Yang Shoushan, his former "mortal enemy" on the battlefield, unexpectedly reunited with him at Anshan Iron and Steel Company. What made him even more distressed was that Mai Cao, his long-cherished wife, turned out to be Yang Shoushan's bride...
After entering Anshan Iron and Steel, the story between Shang Tielong and Yang Shoushan, the "enemies", became more and more exciting. They led their respective teams to engage in fierce technical competition. Yang Shoushan led the workers of the first branch to innovate steel rolling technology, while Shang Tielong led the second branch to develop rapid steelmaking. The two chased each other and refused to give in. In order to donate aircraft to the front line, the two launched a fundraising competition and contributed their heirlooms. They fought wits and courage, and each had their own unique tricks. Although the two were always tit-for-tat and refused to admit defeat, they had the same goal: to contribute their own strength to the steel industry of New China. On the front line of steel production, they overcame technical difficulties, coped with production difficulties, and used their youth and blood to selflessly dedicate themselves.
In the play, the emotional entanglement between Mai Cao, Shang Tielong and Yang Shoushan is also a major highlight of the play. Shang Tielong is unwilling to see Mai Cao and Yang Shoushan together, but he has to face reality; Yang Shoushan feels guilty towards Shang Tielong, but cannot give up his feelings for Mai Cao; Mai Cao, caught between the two, is full of struggles and contradictions in his heart, but cannot express them. How will Mai Cao choose his life in the end?
The TV series "The Age of Steel" is not only a review of the development of my country's steel industry, but also a tribute to the spirit of struggle of that era. The spirit of struggle of the older generation of steel workers who were not afraid of hardships and faced difficulties head-on made us feel the power of faith.
