Editor’s Note
The "First Episode" series is here to help you watch the drama. Are the recently aired dramas worth watching? Let's take a look at the good ones and the weird ones.
Some shows may gradually get better, while others may start strong but end badly, so this article only represents the author's opinion on the first few episodes, for reference only. If there are any subsequent disappointments, I will keep you posted.

The drama I most want to recommend to you this week is the Korean drama "Meet You at the End of Time", directed by Kim Won-sik, written by Lim Sang-chun, and starring Lee Ji-eun (IU), Park Bo-gum, Moon So-ri, Park Hae-joon and others.
The story is set in Jeju Island in the 1950s, and tells the story of the love between Oh Ai-chun, a girl from a haenyeo family, and her childhood sweetheart Liang Kuan-shik, who spans half a century. Ai-chun lost her father at a young age, and her mother, a haenyeo, died of poverty and illness. She was fostered in her uncle's house, who favored boys over girls, and was treated harshly. Later, she fell in love with Kuan-shik, but was obstructed by secular prejudice. She eloped but was beaten by reality. After marriage, she also faced difficulties from her in-laws and financial difficulties. But they supported each other, worked hard, and finally let their daughter leave Jeju Island and become a working woman.

"Meet You at Kujingan" is set on Jeju Island in the 1950s
The show has been on the air for only a week and has received rave reviews, with a Douban score of 9.4. Audiences were moved by the struggles and awakening of women under patriarchal oppression, the delicate love, and the warm humanity shown in the show, and praised it as a profound, well-made masterpiece.
At the beginning of the first episode, the heroine stood in the nursing home in her old age, and the elderly looked back. When other elderly people wrote down their words to their children, their wishes, and their feelings at the moment, the heroine painted the blue of the sea on the paper. When she walked to the beach and murmured to her mother, the narrator said that she didn't expect that at the age of 70, the word she often said was "Mom" just like when she was a child.

The play's delicate lines were well received
This opening has made the quality of this drama stand out from many Korean dramas and firmly grasped the hearts of the audience. What is even more touching is the care and support of several generations of women for the next generation in the drama, which can be called "tragic" in daily life.
Hush! The King is Hibernating
Broadcast platform: Youku
Start time: March 11

Recently, three modern idol dramas, "Hard to Woo", "Love You" and "Filter", all ended with "proposal" and "marriage". How should I put it? More than a decade ago, modern idol dramas still had open endings and even "drew their swords" to the audience at the last minute. In recent years, I don't know if it is in response to the call, but TV dramas are increasingly fond of marriage. Alas, it's all right, but there are fewer surprises.
The next episode of the "Idol Show Dominates the Screen" season is the recently launched drama "Hush! The King is Hibernating", directed by Li Qingrong and starring Yu Shuxin and Lin Yi. The drama is adapted from the novel of the same name by Qing Yu, an author from Jinjiang Literature City, and tells the love story of cartoonist Wei Zhi and professional snowboarder Shan Chong.

"Hush! The King Is Hibernating" focuses on skiing, and the snow scenes in the play are all shot on location
At present, the show has performed well, but has not yet met the market's initial expectations. After all, after Yu Shuxin starred in several hit dramas, the industry has high hopes for this 95 flower's ability to carry a drama.
From the perspective of modern idol dramas, "Hush! The King Is Hibernating" is mediocre in content. A mediocre story is not a big problem in the modern idol genre. The plots of the previous modern idol dramas are just like that ("Filter" is still somewhat creative). In the past few years, the popularity of modern idol dramas is not based on the wonderful stories, but on the metaphysics of CP and the creation of atmosphere. Therefore, the subsequent ratings of this drama are still worth looking forward to.

The play has put a lot of effort into creating a sense of atmosphere, and the viewing experience is relaxed and romantic.
It is important to remind you that modern idol dramas should not think that the same tricks can last a lifetime. Ancient idol dramas have been reincarnated through books and games for several rounds. If modern idol dramas still think that "sweet and sweet spinning in circles, upgraded shots and petals raining" can dominate the ratings, it is a bit naive. Let's still look forward to some new ideas appearing in this track.
