The costume drama "Legend of the Dark River," starring Gong Jun and Peng Xiaoran, will be exclusively broadcast on Youku starting at 12:00 PM on October 20th. It also stars Qiao Zhenyu, Chang Huasen, Yang Yutong, Kong Xueer, and Zhang Shi'an.

The drama is directed by Yin Tao and written by Zhou Munan. It is adapted from Zhou Munan's novel of the same name. It tells the story of the head of the "Dark River", the number one assassin organization in the world, who is in danger. The three heads of the families who want to seize the throne have sent assassins to assassinate him. Su Muyu (played by Gong Jun) is the leader of the Spider Shadow Group "Kui" who is directly under the head of the Dark River. He is forced to be involved in the dispute and draws swords with his friends because of opposing beliefs.
The original novel is the third film and television adaptation of the "Zhou Munan Youth Jianghu Series", the first two being "Youth Song" and "Young Man on White Horse Drunk in the Spring Breeze".
Director Yin Tao, whose representative works include "The Glory of Tang Dynasty", "Under the Power", "Liu Li", "Chang Feng Du", "Tang Palace Strange Cases: The Green Mist and the Wind", and "There is a Tree in Xiantai". This is also the second time he has directed a film and television work based on this IP after "Song of Youth" (Douban score 8.3).
